About Me, Bryan Causarano
Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Bryan (he/him/his). I’m the middle child in a family of 3 boys, and I grew up in St. Catharines, Niagara. I have a loving family who have been my biggest support through all of my life. Now, I live with my husband, Eric, our two dogs, Ike and Buckley, and our two cat’s Joplin and Carlisle. When not celebrating weddings, we celebrate music and community. Together, Eric and I run E-Bolt Music and The Merch Room, and are Cofounders of Grand River Pride.
We love music, and I usually have Americana or Alternative playing when Eric’s around, and Celine Dion when he’s not. It’s coffee in the mornings, and wine at night. Between water plants and walking dogs, I’m usually watching Drag Race, or we’re finishing a NYT Crossword like an old married couple. I’m sarcastic to a fault, and have enough dad jokes to even make him embarrassed of me.
Life is challenging. Laughing at it is not.
My Take on Love
Love is Easy
To me, love is Ike’s tail wags blowing fur-bails across the floor because I’m smiling at him; and the smell of what grandma has cooking when I visit. It’s a song on the radio that reminds me of when my best friend made me laugh so hard I spit out my wine. Or a text message from dad saying “thanks for the visit”.
Love grows in gardens. It dances to a great beat. Wipes your tears when you’re sad, and bandages you when you’re hurt. If you ever need love, you can see it in a head-nod of a stranger walking by. You can smell it from outside a bakery, or hear it at the playground.
Love exists literally everywhere, and we can miss it if we’re not looking. I love celebrating love and how it brings a community together to cheer as two people - any two people - hold hands and promise each other their hearts.
Merrily Married
My Biggest Love, Ike
This is Ike - the man I’ve been waiting all my life to fall in love with. He is a 5-or-so year-old Mastiff with the deepest growls, and the biggest heart. He’s a little bit anxious around new friends, but who isn’t? Give him a scratch in that spot he likes, and he’ll love you forever.
When COVID-19 shut us down, Ike lost his home. For a few days, some new friends at KW Humane Society kept him safe until we could meet. Since then, we’ve been best friends. He loves to keep me safe by sitting on my feet while I work, sitting with his feet on me when we watch TV, or lying his head on my feet when I sleep.
